The Story of Tocca

From the beaches of St. Lucia to a small 400 square foot apartment in the garment district, a group of friends with a vision for beautiful yet affordable clothes with designer details launched TOCCA in 1994. TOCCA’s early collection, from candy-colored terry cloth tube dresses to sari-inspired embroidered mini dresses, were an immediate hit for their unique styling, unexpected details and surprisingly affordable pricing. TOCCA was worn by the tastemakers of the day – from Christy Turlington and Helena Christensen to Sofia Coppola.

Named for the Italian word for “touch” after its intricate embroideries and luxurious fabrics, TOCCA combines the best of the romantic and exotic. Unabashedly feminine with an edge, TOCCA evokes the European sophisticate on holiday. Inspired by her travels, TOCCA brings a worldly playfulness to its family of products - a sensibility that led to the launch of TOCCA Beauty in 1997 with three unique and unusual products: a solid perfume, a dry oil skin smoother and a laundry delicate for fine washables in “Touch”, a gardenia-based fragrance. While unconventional categories with which to launch a beauty line, TOCCA Beauty was an immediate success.

TOCCA Beauty continues to be renowned worldwide as a fragrance house of distinctive and exquisite scents. Our perfumers develop scents that are reminiscent of bygone times and familiar places yet infused with the unexpected, creating something altogether fresh and new. Leaving a touch of mystery in the air, our sophisticated products are meant to inspire and surprise. TOCCA’s coveted fragrances can be found in our luxury candle collection, fine fragrances and bath and body products and are sold in the finest boutiques worldwide.

TOCCA Bambini was introduced in 1994 in mini-versions of the main collection for the fashionable mom and tot. Intended for young girls aged 2-8, TOCCA’s Bambini collection pairs beautifully whimsical fabrics, often borrowed directly from the main Collection, with classic, simple and wearable bodies. The result is covetable dresses, skirts and coats that are beautiful without feeling too precious.

In autumn of 1996, the first freestanding TOCCA store opened in Tokyo’s Aoyoyama district. There are now twenty TOCCA stores throughout Japan. TOCCA is sold at fine boutiques worldwide including Barneys New York, Sephora and Bluemercury.
